The G.B. Pant Social Science Institute, a constituent Institute of central university Allahabad, is a premiere research and development institute in India established in 1980 under joint support of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and the government of Uttar Pradesh (U.P). It has recently been accorded the status of a constituent unit of the Allahabad University, which was conferred with a central status in 2005. The Institute is unique in its concerns with both theoretical and applied research in social and management sciences, particularly in the fields of socio-economic development, popular culture, public policies and social technologies of modernity.
